About the Behavioral Science Group (BSG)

The BSG is a specialized strategic unit at the core of the UAE government. We support policy-makers by using behavioral science as a fresh lens to solve complex national challenges. Our work spans health, education, sustainability, international development, and more.

We combine rigorous research with a pragmatic approach, utilizing advanced data analytics and mixed-methods social research to drive positive, lasting change in the UAE and beyond.

The Role

As a Behavioral Researcher, you will join a fast-paced, growing team of dedicated behavioral scientists. You will act as a bridge between theoretical insights and real-world policy application, helping government stakeholders diagnose behavioral barriers, inform the design of solutions and measure their impact.

Responsibilities

  • Quantitative Research: Contribute to the successful execution of field and online research (including RCTs, QEDs, and surveys). You will be responsible for designing and implementing quantitative research and evaluations, power calculations, data cleaning and analysis, interpreting and communicating results effectively.
  • Qualitative Research: Contribute to the design of qualitative explore phases end-to-end.  Design interview guides and focus group protocols. You will be responsible for facilitating in-person interviews and focus groups in both Arabic and English
  • Project Management: Manage project timelines and deliverables independently, ensuring all work meets the BSG’s high standards.
  • Policy Design: Develop and recommend practical, behaviorally informed interventions for areas such as sustainability, education, and social affairs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Manage professional relationships with government partners and explain research designs (e.g. RCT’s, Pre-post, Difference-in-difference) and behavioral concepts (e.g., defaults, social norms) in simple, actionable terms.
  • Reporting: Produce high-quality slides, research protocols, evidence summaries, and briefing notes for senior government audiences.

Requirements

  • Behavioral Science Knowledge: A strong background in behavioral science, psychology, economics, or a related field. You should be able to apply theoretical concepts to practical policy problems.
  • Research Proficiency: Experience with both qualitative and quantitative methods. You understand survey design, thematic analysis, and the principles of impact evaluation/field trials. You have at least 2 years of experience analyzing statistical datasets, or hold a Master Degree/PhD in a related field (Economics, Econometrics, Data Science, Computer Science, Sociology or Psychology).
  • Communication: Exceptional writing and presentation skills. You can "translate" technical data into clear, persuasive narratives for non-specialists.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to see multiple sides of a policy argument and identify why certain interventions succeed while others fail.
  • Self-Management: Highly organized, resilient, and proactive. You are comfortable working with a degree of independence while remaining a dedicated team player.
  • Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is required
  • Proficient coding in R
