What we do
We collect some of the personal data provided by buyers of online courses (‘customers’) offered through the Behavioral Economics Academy on BehavioralEconomics.com.
Information we collect about you
This is information that you give us by filling in forms on our site (www.behavioraleconomics.com). It includes personal information you provide when you buy and register for our online courses.
The information you give us or we collect about you may include your name, address, email address, phone number, titles of courses purchased, answers to exercises and quizzes in the course, or any other information relevant to your learning experience. No credit card information is stored in our database or on our website (see ‘Data from course purchases’ below).
How we use your information
All of the information mentioned above is processed through a secure SSL server and stored in our database.
We will treat your information with respect and won’t share it with any other parties. Your answers to course exercises will be shared (in anonymized form) only if you’ve given us your consent.
We may use your information to notify you about changes to our service.
Data from course purchases
BehavioralEconomics.com uses WooCommerce to handle transactions. By default, we retain the following data:
- What products a customer ordered and when
- Name, e-mail address, and phone number provided by the customer
- Billing (and optionally: shipping) address entered by the customer
- A note about payment method used by the customer
Our system uses an automatic payment gateway, which securely requests information from customers and relays it to a third-party payment processing service, such as Stripe (a credit card processor) and PayPal.
By design, customers’ credit card number and security code are never stored on our website. The payment gateway gives this sensitive information directly to the payment processor.
How long we retain your data
User information (provided by customers/learners) is retained indefinitely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on our site or registered for a course, you can request to receive a file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
